Modern-Classic Winter Wedding at The Joule

Weddings

Lizzy and Trace’s wedding at the eclectic Joule Hotel was the definition of modern meets timeless — a celebration full of thoughtful details, striking design moments, and a color palette inspired directly by the venue itself.

Set in December, the couple wanted to embrace the cool, wintery tones of the season without tipping into traditional holiday colors. The Joule’s contemporary architecture and rich, moody hues became the guiding inspiration for the entire design. Think soft steel blues, deep charcoals, winter whites, and subtle hints of slate — creating a look that felt elegant, fresh, and anything but “Christmas.”

But what truly tied the day together was the watercolor artwork created for their invitation suite. This hand-painted motif by Ladybird Paper Co. became a visual thread running through the entire wedding — appearing in the ceremony, dance floor, menu card, and other day-of stationery pieces.

From literature-inspired touches for the bride to subtle nods to the groom’s love for sports, every detail was intentionally layered in. It was modern without being stark, timeless without feeling cookie-cutter and an overall perfect reflection of two people who found beauty in their differences and harmony in their shared style.
